Senior C++ Software Engineer

Our client is a highly sophisticated quantitative technology organization where engineering is a core driver of the firm's success. The company develops the infrastructure behind large-scale computing, distributed applications, real-time data processing, and the internal systems that enable engineers to build and operate software efficiently. As the platform organization expands, they are looking for a Senior C++ Engineer to take ownership of critical technology at the foundation of the firm's engineering environment.


This is an infrastructure-focused position centered around the systems and developer platforms that sit beneath the firm's broader technology stack. You'll build the underlying components, services, and frameworks that allow engineering teams to develop, deploy, and run production software reliably and efficiently. The role offers an opportunity to work on technology with a broad internal footprint rather than a single application or product. Your work will impact the performance and reliability of infrastructure supporting hundreds of systems, while helping engineering teams operate at greater scale.


You'll be solving challenging problems involving concurrency, resource management, distributed computing, system performance, and large-scale infrastructure. The team works closely with engineers across systems, networking, compute, and platform development, making this a strong fit for someone who enjoys working close to the operating system and tackling technically complex problems.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Engineer high-performance systems and core platform components primarily in modern C++.
  • Develop reusable services, frameworks, libraries, and infrastructure consumed by engineering teams throughout the organization.
  • Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks across concurrency, scheduling, memory utilization, and resource allocation.
  • Build internal developer platforms, tooling, and automation that streamline development and software deployment.
  • Partner with infrastructure, networking, and platform engineers to architect dependable distributed systems.
  • Shape the design and evolution of foundational platform technologies with a focus on scalability, resilience, observability, and maintainability.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and code reviews while providing technical mentorship and helping establish engineering best practices.


What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or another rigorous technical field.
  • Significant professional experience developing production software in modern C++ (C++17/C++20 or newer).
  • Deep understanding of Linux, concurrency, multithreaded programming, networking, systems architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Experience developing backend infrastructure, distributed platforms, developer systems, high-performance applications, or other technically demanding production software.
  • Exposure to high-performance computing, low-latency systems, or other performance-sensitive environments is a plus.


Compensation

Base Salary: $360,000 – $425,000

Total Compensation: $725,000 – $1,025,000+
